Handcrafted Effects
As lots of things in life, Reactor Pedals came into being by pure chance. I had been wanting a Harmonic Percolator for years but the cost of an original was exorbitant to say the least so I decided to make my own. After searching many schematics I finally decided on a design – but where to source components? Fortunately, my farther is a amateur radio operator and has designed and built radio equipment for years. I sent him my bill of materials for the pedal and within a week all the parts including brand new old stock 2N404 transistors arrived. I phoned Dad to thank him for such great help and he stated he had about one hundred of these in the attic! The next day a bag of arrived with them all in, “Put them on eBay” he said! No fear...

I constructed the first pedal and was completely blown away by the results – shared it around with my guitarist friends and they all agreed. It then occurred to me that I could build these to sell. My early career was in the nuclear industry with an emphasis on electronics so had all the skills required to design and build these units. Then stared a long six months of designing, sourcing components, sorting out the brand and finally, building the pedals. And here we are today.
Each pedal is hand built and unique. Components are matched to produce the best and varied sound possible and everything is tested and double checked before it leaves the workshop. I use a combination of vintage and modern parts to make sure these sound the best they can.
